Props for Yamaha 250's
Hey Guys,
I have a buddy who just purchased a Scarab Sport with a pair of 250 Yahama's on it... It is spinning a pair of 21" factory props and it would appear that the MPH parallels the tach by a factor of 100... I would also imagine that it could spin a pair of 23" props and let the engine work a little less... My question is what prop manufacturer, style or spline size will work on these engines... I did a little catalog checking and it would appear that the shafts may be the same size as a Mercruiser Bravo... I just thought I should check with the experts... Thanks in advance for your help...

The best high performance Yamaha guy is Ray Anderson. I met him at the Miami Boat show and he knows Yamaha props and speed parts. Check out his web site at www.andersonmarine.com or 615-868-6313 near Nashville. For now he will probably recommend a sleeve adapter and a Merc Bravo or Mirage prop. Your boat needs bow lift. If you want low end punch and mid-range punch, he will recommend a 4-Blade. 3-blade will be better at the top. GaryM

Gary,
Thanks much for the information... It sounds as though I need to get the adapters for some late model Mercruiser props... I will pass this along and once again thanks very much...

Steve,
Thanks much... I was hoping to possibly use Mirage or Mirage Plus but the Laser 2's will more than do the job... Have a great
day...
