Snap,
I would be more than happy to tune your engine. Mark is a great guy who really knows how to tune a mefi. I'm sure he will give you a cal that is very close. Since the cal should be really close, we could just tune it in the boat, unless you want to dyno it. That is the best way to go. However, I would like to also check it once it is in the boat to be sure everything is perfect. We are also capable of installing the engine, or anything else you may need.

I own a truck repair shop, so installing the engine should be no issue. I will probably go ahead and install it and if it needs some fine tuning i will drag the whole rig down there.

Eddie, I do have a question. A couple of times, I have had what I think was a vapor lock issue. After running hard and sitting for an hour, the engine would start and then die. Had to crank for ever to restart and misses for a minute until getting back to normal. 454mag with cool fuel. Is as simple as plugging the fuel filter housing and running the return line back to the fuel tank? Almost seems too easy. I have the engine out right now and this would be the time to do this. But, I have also had a slight overheating issue and this problem never happened until the overheating started. It is most likely related, but should I still re route the line anyway. I have the overheating issue resolved.

Yep, that is vaporlock. The easiest solution is to get the merc booster pump kit. Its a small electric pump booster that plugs into the regular engine harness.
If you are running any ethanol fuel, that will make it vaporlock more.

I have been very careful not to buy any ethanol fuel since the problem started. Would you happen to have a part# for the booster pump. Not sure my local Merc dealer will know what I need.

As Griff mentioned, it certainly sounds like vapor lock. While the pump is a pretty good fix, it's something else to buy and something else to break. I just return the fuel to the tank and not worry about it anymore. It is a sure fire fix that can be done with a couple feet of hose and a few fittings. Let me know if i can help.
