should trip the breaker if it is....if compressor is gone, probably not worth replacing, better off changing out the unit, can sell you a mermaid with a 5 year warranty at a great price...Rob

what size unit ? w/heat ?

12000 BTU, with heat, im sure its not much of a price difference
