Tach bouncing when in recall mode??

Tach bouncing when in recall mode??
I have a Gaffrig tach with the Gaffrig swithc that has tach-recall-erase.
When its in the recall, the tach will bounce.
And never shows max RPM.
Any suggestions what to look for?
