Hi All
I have an issue with the ECU Units on my D6's and was wondering if anyone can assist.
I have just put the boat back in the water after being ashore for a couple of months. the engine were lifted and varous mechanical parts replaced as part of a much needed overhaul.
we carried out a 20 min seatrial with a volvo mechanic and found the a small difference in the two leg trim angles. these were adjusted and we went out again. then all the problems started. first an overheat then the stdb engine wouldn't select neutral or reverse.
The mechanic spent another 4 days on the fault and at the end told me he needed to replace the HCU nad PCU plus the software update. He is telling me this was caused by the fact all the batteries are attached to one battery switch.
I have to say I am not convinced he hasn;t fried something... the boat is 2006 stock from the Princess Factory in the UK. therfore it has been running with that configuration for 5 years plus... I would assume the setup is approved by volvo cos I know they usually assist in specifying the engines. I also know there are probably 1000 or so plus of these boats in existance..
My Question... is it possible the technician could have done something to damage these units??

I don't think you'll find an answer to your question here.
Try Boat Diesel, http://boatdiesel.com/ It's a great source for diesel/commercial applications.
Good luck,
Kurt
