There are a few other good threads I have posted on where we get into a deep discussion on Dyno correction factors, this thread was aimed at a particular individual who came on here stirring up a bunch of people with dyno challenges and claims. The question I did ask though was answered: If I dyno a motor in Colorado at 5000 feet and my correction factor ends up at 27% according to SAE it is corrected so far from standard deviation that the numbers are invalid. That deviation is + or - 7% from the sae standard (according to Scott/CFM/ S.B), Smitty
Would you like Harold Bettis to come on here? |

Smitty,
Would you like Harold Bettis to come on here? you sound as bad as VP. lets bring a former employee of Superflo on. Why don't YOU answer the questions you were asked, instead of trying to name drop. No one is impressed. |

You are correct. They can claim anything they want. Anytime you have to adjust a number that much, the math messes it up. Not to mention how many differences there are in a motor built at se level, compared to one build at 5000 feet. neither would run well if there location was switched without major changes. I met a guy 6 months ago that told me he had developed a totally synthetic product that was targeted at increasing fuel economy in petroleum based engines. It had a side effect of increasing HP. I was skeptical but he wanted someone that had contacts in the performance industry to introduce it. I said I would but I needed samples. I needed to see it for myself not just in print. Well Friday he and I had lunch and I got my samples. I knew there was a 9 to 1 circle track engine on the dyno so I didn't tell him but after lunch I headed to the shop. We did an A B A test. Made 2 back to back pulls each time. With 1oz added to a 3gallon cell we gained at peak power 23HP and 22#/ft of torque over both A test with no additive and same 93 octain gas. when asked with updates he shared this Sorry I have been ordering material for next year and putting out some fires. TN testing updates. My 130K mile '99 GMC likes the stuff. It would always PING under a load with 89 octane from BP. It doesn't now. I am going to check mileage and report at the end of the week. The local Jetski/Fourwheel shop got a bottle. He put it in his 20XX Honda Recon that he pulls skis out of the water with. 1st gear only before treatment is what it took to pull a set of 4stroke skis out of the lake. It will now pull them out in 2nd gear no problem. Put it in his truck, 01 GMC and it does not PING now either. |

i dont have a dog in this fight but have fixed engines with cstraub "cam picks" and it wasnt a pretty sight for the customer that was prommised performance and got a slower boat. if you dont own a boat or havent actualy built performance BOAT engines with proven increases in power you have no business putting your 2 cents in at a customers expence...hopefully someone will warn your new customers of your past transactions before they waste their hard earned money
