Yes U can run NGK stock # 7164 plug type TR55IX I use them also. Also NGK rep told me that they make some of AC Delco plugs and of course stamp them AC Delco.
Straight from Merc. Service Bulletin AC 41-983 and is listed in their Service manual.

Thanks for the replies guys....Found some of the NGK's local and went with those.
Thanks for the gapping tip also Ray. I'm hoping all i have is a fouled or bad plug. Started acting like I got a hold of some bad gas or had some water (would clear up once the motor would build heat or run through a lil bit of fuel) Now its just a soild miss and does'nt clear up.

My boat had 75 hours out of 160 total hours, and they felt a little notchy when throttling, and where not even at the sticks for rpms...
swapped new plugs, and both motors came alive, even at the sticks/tacks too. really helped the boat. 7 bucks a peace is what i paid.
