I did this repair about a year and a half ago and at the time had not done one. This is what I learned. The JR kit is a nice kit and pretty straight forward. You do need a couple special tools. The first is to remove the hinge pins that are located behind the trim sensors on either side of the gimble ring (p/n 91-78310) but if you don't have one you can use a large allen. Ron actually told me this trick and it worked fine for me and the second is the water hose insert tool (p/n 91-43579) and then the insert (p/n 41674). Be careful not to damage the hose when removing the insert because there is not a lot of hose there to work with if you have to cut it down. Not to mention, if you damage the hose and cut it to short...you will have to replace it. Personally, I had a hell of a time getting to the insert inside my boat with the motor still in there! The other tool that will make life a lot easier for you is a 1/4" flexshaft screwdriver when it comes to loosening the clamps for the bellows. I highly suggest using Rons s.s. swivel shaft, hp u-bolt kit and if your tiller arm is worn at all...REPLACE IT! Also, on reassembly make sure you lube up all the bushings and pins/shafts. If your transom housing has a zerk fitting on the front of it up near the top it will no longer be used if you use the s.s. swivel shaft. Good luck! :drink:

Used the kit as did 3 friends afterwards. Follow the directions and take the advice on the swivel pin.

I agonized over using his system a couple years ago - it seemed like a good idea, but I finally decided I'd have the engines out of the boat sitting on the ground in less time than using the kit, so that was the path I took....
