As an owner of a boat that never saw salt until this year...the pores that are already opened by the fresh water corrosion are very susceptible to corrosion than if the surface had never been in fresh water. I come from a family of metallurgist that explained this to me.

I am seeing corrosion of manifolds and risers that I have never seen from all salt water use. I have heard that it's easier to go from salt to fresh with the corrosion than from fresh to salt.

If it's easy enough to flush...do it.

My 1988 420's came with aluminum intakes and I had to replace them after 4 years and I flushed after every use. I replaced the all aluminum intakes with ones that had a brass sleeve.
