Hey guys ! I just bought my first boat, its a donzi minx classic and I am in the middle of the engine rebuild process. The 350 mercruiser motor is currently in the machine shop, I did a .30 over to the block and got some nice flat pistons and now im stuck on what cam application to get. I dont want something toooo radical. I want something reliable with some HP. I also did not want to change any valves etc and of course keep the cost down. Any Ideas ??? Can someone please Help ???

Hey, thanks for the reply. 99' 880 block and 906 heads with stock intake, stock carb and stock exhaust (for now atleast) with Alpha one drive. I really wanted something reliable but good power. I do not know which is better roller or tappet. The guys at the machine shop are recommending a kit from comp cams that offers the camshaft and tappets for an additional $500. I thought it was a little steep which is why i wanted to do my own research and maybe find something a little cheaper or even used.

Roller would be great but might get pricey. Look at the 12-236-3. It is the XM262H. I ran this cam and it is a good cam. Great low end torque and pulls good to 5100-5200 rpm. Those are Vortec heads so I'm not sure on the springs. Do a search on Google for Vortec beehive spring upgrade.

Roller is the only way to go, period.
You did not mention what you have for exhaust. If its stock and you are not changing it, save your money for gas.
Exhaust is where you start with any performance upgrade.

Then I have no idea why you'd go flat tappet... You could get an off the shelf cam, or for a little more money call Bob here: http://www.marinekineticsonline.com/
You need to figure out your combination a little better before you pick a cam anyhow.
