Check you wiring a two wire motor should just change polarity to go the other direction. Randy

Double pole - Double throw switch.

Looking at it like this from the back
TOP
A D
B E
C F
BOTTOM

B and E are the motor leads.
A and F are 12v +
C and D are 12v -

I also wired in a "secret" switch that kills the hatch independently in case I want to leave the boat in the water with the power on for the bilge pumps.

The first pic shows a typical setup
The second pic shows a setup i came up with and posted a few years back thats safer...you dont have a long power lead running from your dash all the way back to the engine compartent overloading the wires as most are specs improperly from the factory. And witht he relay setup you get a shorter run from the battery and more power to the hatch ram for it to work better and faster

If you have some basic electric knowledge you can get VERY creative. My dad is a plant super and carries his keys on a clip he hooks to his pant loop. Few times he has lost them and unfortunatly his car keys are on it. Once it must have fell off in the parking lot as he came outside looking for them and the car was gone! So i installed a latching relay in the starter circuit so you have to push the cig lighter in to latch the relay for 5sec to complete the circuit before the car will start. Even if you have the keys they are worthless unless you know about the cig lighter. And i tapped intot he starter wire right where it goes through the firewall so even if they tried to hotwire the car it would do them no good

If that were the case he would have a "better" actuator in there with supersized capability and speed
