Default Help to identify block yr and 2 or 4 bolt

Casting # is 10114182

I know it is a 454 but I have seen some people say it is a 2 bolt and some say 4 bolt. I am wondering if anyone knew for sure.

Also wondering if there is any way at all to tell if heads are oval or square port by looking at them without taking anything apart? Any distinguishing characteristics?

You can pull off a valve cover and get the number off the head.

Those engines have 088 heads, and the block suffix code will show they are over the counter LS-6 (XXA code) engines

Is it a STOCK "unmodified" Mercruiser motor? If so, then the 330/310 hp is oval/peanut port heads. The 365 hp is a rectangular port head.

454's are some 4 bolt and some 2 bolt. The casting number will not guarantee which one.
