Default Stereo Remote Reviews

Just bought a Checkmate 270 Convincor...I love the boat but I hate where the mounted the stereo, so im looking for a stereo with a wired remote with a lcd display. Every remote that i look at has ****ty reviews, Does anyone have a good review on a wired remote? The 270 does not have a whole lot of room for some stereo equiptment, does anyone have some pics of the way they rigged there stereo.....Thanks in advance for all your help/info

I tried out a bunch of them and ended up going with Clarion. It is ok, thats as far as I will go. In all reality, none of them are all that great if you are doing anything more than adjusting volume and scrolling songs or stations up and down. MP3/Ipod interfaces are all a bit difficult/slow.

take a look at Fusion Marine

They have a great wired remote

and several selections for head units.

The MS-RA200 is very compact because it doesn't have a CD drive, it's ipod and radio only

The 600 series are full size and have different options to choose from: CD, internal iPod dock, or DVD

I have a Sony in one boat and an Alpine in another. The Sony is superior in every way! It's not wireless but I can control the I-pod easily and read what I'm doing on the LCD screen that is in the remote. The alpine as a little handheld remote that is water proof and is RF so you don't have to have a line of sight for it to work. To put it bluntly everything about the Alpine sucks. Its VERY hard to navigate the I-Pod, which you can only really do at the radio, adjustments are slow from the remote. A buddy of mine has the Clarion setup. I would give that a second to the Sony Commander remote. Either way I vote for the Sony!

+1 on the Sony, love it. I have the wireless remote as well, works great.

I take it your stereo is mounted in the cabin like my checkmate was?

You asked where you put the stereo "stuff" I mounted two amps on the wall in the cabin right below the head unit. Ran two 6.5 knee high in front of the bolsters (new holes) two 6x9 in boxes with custom lexan fronts. I kept them in the cuddy on long wires, put them on the dash when parked....not a lost of places for speakers. Two 12" under the back seat in a custom ported box, using the front face of the back seat as the box front.

Sounded great, wish I had pics for you.
