My Baja H2X came stock with dual ram I suppose to relieve stress on one small area of the transom. A little more plumbing to run but should handle any mods in the future.Randy

single ram full hydraulic is better than dual ram add on, if you have the money then dual ram full hydraulic is the way to go

I put IMCO full hyd on my 30. It came with a hyd assist (brazil valve) on one pump motor but there was too much play at speed. I have a used IMCO single ram " helm control pump " which you will need to convert over to external hydraulic steering. It is in excellant condition and was on my 25 Outlaw which I converted over to dual ram external hydraulic steering.I would go the extra and get a twin ram setup to spread the forces equally on the transom and help maintain the drive in case of a gimble failure. Full hyd is REALLY nice, but you don't have to go that route with your boat. I would call and talk to the experts at IMCO and other mfg's to get a complete picture.

I would go dual RAM. I would think the biggest problem with single RAM is the extra load on gimbal ring. All that one-sided force tends to wear out the upper steering pin faster.
