Default Ignition module mounting

Finished everything on my motor this weekend except mounting the ignition module (stock thunderbolt IV). Just curious were people are mounting this with aftermarket exhaust (CMI's) with no mounting bracket? I assume the transom (because it does have a ground to the block.

Thats where I put mine. Ground wire from distributor, ground wire from module and ground wire from block, all attached at the module. 3 good screws with washers.

Mounted mine on the transom also. Just make sure that you ground it properly. I found out the hard way. The module case has to be grounded as well as the ground wire coming out of the module. Run the black out of the module, to one of the mounting screws for the case and then another ground wire from there to the block. Took about 2 days of me saying WTF???? when I just had the black out of the module grounded and not the case.

Thanks for the reply's, I'll mount it to the transom like I figured.

Craig,
I picked up a 24 pitch Hydromotive quad IV (a deal I couldn't pass up). I'll probably be a little overpropped (with 470 HP give or take) and will need to get it labbed. Really want to get a 3 blade, but I'll start with the 4 blade and work from there. I'll let you know the results (should have it in this weekend, but have to break the motor in).

Scott
