Default Stroke a 502?

Is it a must, to have a tall deck to stroke a 502, or is it just recomended?

I have access to a mercury 540 bulldog rotating assembley and am trying to get a block for it.

Always on the hunt for more!

The Bulldog is a 500 Bulldog and is 540ci. They use a tall deck block. I'm pretty sure you need a tall deck block to use the entire rotating assembly.

There really is no need for a tall deck block on a 540ci.

Ok. so I figured with the 4.375 stroke and the 6.535 rods, I will def. need a tall deck.

Anyone else know where I can find a good deal on one? Lil Red must of got rid of his.
