Default 42 Fountain A/C

I just purchased a 2006 42 Fountain Executioner with no A/C. I could use some advice. How many btu, where to install the pump/strainer and water pick-up through the hull. Location of the unit, looks like the only option is to remove the plastic tub in the counter and install it in the base of the cabinet.

where do you boat ? either a 6500 or a 9000, thru hull needs to be in the engine room, with strainer, pump must be below water line, I am a mermaid a/c dealer...would need to see pics of your 42 to suggest location... Rob @ [email protected]

How about mounting the pickup in the transom notch? Wont affect speed that way.

A buddy installed a Mermaid in his 42, under the forward storage. I put mine in place of the cooler so I wouldn't have to cut into any of the interior to run any of the duct work.

We spend most of our time running around the islands in Lake Erie, but i have trailered to the Ozarks, Cumberlin, Norris, & Key West, Bahamas are in the planning stages. I assume the 9000 would handle 90-100 temps.

if you put the thru hull anywhere that gets out of the water it will loose prime and have to be bleed everytime you run it...that would have to be your decision, mermaids come with a bleed valve that helps a lot...

Yikes. Boating here on lake michigan i'd have to bleed it everytime i'd wanna use it.

Now that you mention it, I think my buddy has a issue like this sometimes with the old Marina Air system in his older 38 Cig. I seem to recall him having to mess with it to get it to prime.
