Default 496 Raw Water Pump Rebuild

Im not sure when the Impellor was last replaced in my 03 Sunsation 288 w/ 496 Mag and i want to replace it this spring. This is my first 496 and i know the housing is brass and runs $400+, has anyone eve used one of the "rebuild" kits for this pump? JC Marine makes one that comes with new impellor, gaskets, wear plates etc....Also i dont like the idea of drawing the RV antifreeze up via muffs, i have read where guys install a tee fitting in the supply line just before the pump what kind of tee fitting do you use?

Wink

Buy the CPPerformane/Hardin Marine 496 stainless pump and you've solved all your current and future 496 raw water pump problems. This pump has the Raylar 496 Stamp of Approval.

just ordered the hardin marine $349 all stainless. Gonna put it on next week, plus the rebuild kits are cheap.

Been running the Hardin Marine stainless raw water pump now for a year and all good thus far! Caught a lot of flack for not buying a "rebuild kit" for the stock merc one. Was not a fan of grinding and silicone! The difference between the rebuild kit and the Hardin stainless entire replacement was only like a 250.00 bill! A LOT of material!!! Lovin it!

(also uses an old school impeller/much much larger and thicker internal shaft!).
