procharger or whipple?

I have a 42 fountain with 2 502 bbc motors with holley fuel intake the motors are around 535 hp and i am looking to make they around 750 to 800 hp. What advice would yall have with going with the procharger and are they reliable or yall suggest just suck it up and pay the money for whipples. procharger set up is around 6000 a piece and whipple is around 11000 a piece. any advice lol

Did a set of prochargers in 1999 on a pair 454's, no good. In 2003 did a set of whipples on a pair of 500 EFI's, ran great no problems, lots of power.

Whipple's would be my only choice, the extra money is worth it. Remember, you get what you pay for.

I think the Whipple is a better unit, however I used the procharger on a 502 with great results and liked it. Remember the centrifugals don't make as much power at low rpm, which helps drives live but is not as much fun. Like everyone will tell you though, with both units make sure entire fuel delivery system is up to the task, better exhaust, head gaskets. With the procharger the boost sensitive fuel pressure regulator worked for me but I kept a close eye on the plugs and the fuel pressure guage. The only right way to do it is have someone remap the ecm and ditch that system. You will like the extra power but make sure you do everything the right way.

whipple is the 3.3 and does anyone know a good place to install the prochargers or whipples in louisiana and do all the tuning bc the motors are fuel injected now

I DIG IT !! 02-11-2012 10:06 AM
