I'll take an HX or STDX bearing everytime and keep the crush vs opening up the main or big end.

Now I know why, I stay away from posting anything. Anything you say; someone wants to find fault in it. Panther, found one of the sites, that stated the same thing I found almost word for word. I noticed full groove bearings and started searching for answers. Before that happened I called my Clevite rep. and questioned him about them. Wanted to find some written facts about them. I have always used 180 grooved upper only, with no bearing issues or excessive wear even at rebuild time.
I'am done with this thread and posting on it, I have better things to do.

That's correct, it's internet forum 101. Just ask Chris Sunkin. It doesn't help a story when cut-pasting verbatim. If you're going to cut-paste, at least reference the source. All it does is raise question to its validity, even if it's truthful. EVERYTHING is suspect on the internet, you can't trust anything you read.

I had it confused with HN which is now the standard bearing as I found out in my last engine build.

Is the HX also cut narrow like the rest of the new clevite 77 series rod bearings?

MER Performance, For my own knowledge do you not recommend the full grooved bearings under no circumstances? I have a set on the shelf and was getting ready to use them, now Im worried. Thanks

Just for the record I was agreeing on the X bearings and clarifying their use.

As for the rest of this disaster of a thread. If you took a vote of ACTUAL engine builders, that do it as a profession and not just on the internet, and asked how many guys would run a full grooved main bearing in a non priority main system with big ditches ground in the crank and a conventional oil pump I don't think you'd find a single guy that would consider building it that way. Also, for those lobes to look like that there wasn't enough spring rate and probably insufficient pushrods. IMO

Yes they are. I think they did it to save $. ACL on the other hand are not. They are a excellent bearing.

The next time I quote something, that are not exact words from my mouth, I will keep that in mind. By the way did you find that after or before the post. I did say, do a search and you will find the same thing as in the beginning, so not to mislead anyone.
