Stainless Marine vs. CMI E-Tops
Any peformance difference on slighty warmed over 350 - 400 hp sbc? Just bling? Problems with CMI leakage? Thanks, Johnny Anyone with ones they want to sell? |
I would also like to hear opinions on this.... Currently running GLM tuned manifolds with Imco FastGlass 22" long dry risers on my 475hp 385ci SBC. Thinking about upgrading if the power gain is there.

I've been running Stainless Marine manifolds and full length tailpipes since 2005. They've been on and off the motors a few times for various reasons and I've carefully inspected them as good as I could every time and they are like new. The tailipes are dry until 1" to the tip so reversion is no problem even though my cams arent that big (yet) but technically speaking they're almost dry.
They replaced Gil manifolds that failed due to corrosion. I believe they were original from 1985 so no crying here. My boat spent 1/3 of its life at Ft. Apache in Miami (salty) 1/3 in the great lakes and 1/3 with me in Tampa Bay and the Gulf which has very salty water. I flush religously and thouroughly with fresh water then mixed with Dawn dish soap. I can't relay any performance comparisons because I never did a straight exhaust swap, lots of other stuff was done too, but these have held up great and I know I've seen a bunch of threads in recent years about leaky headers and I have no real world experience with CMI's new SB headers so I can't say anything bad about them but I will give a thumbs up to the Stainless Marine stuff. |

I have a set of fully polished CMI E-tops with dry tailpipes . Ran only about 60 hrs on my 383 ci before i bought the cat . Never had a problem with them . They were run in freshwater only in our local lake and never subjected to a severe pounding . They can pass for new except where the engine box was touching on the top of each header . Just fine scratches that can be buffed out . They also have the polished distribution tubes . They sound kickazz and made little kids on the dock cry when i fired her up !!! Was not going to part with them but i need money for the Warlock build ....:bunnydance:

How big are the primary pipes?
Can you measure distance from rear flange bolt to both rear weld joint and to exhaust tip? Thanks, Johnny |
