the 310 blew up last year, because of overheating, it has been on that boat for years however. He had a water issue but kept using the boat. The other two no problems, they both even have square port intakes going to peanut heads.....all 3 single engine boats gained 10mph +/-

The thing you have to understand is if anything goes wrong, just a little, you will pop them. you will have to be conservative on timing and fuel trim. Just a little knock and you will be grenading. Fuel and water gauges should be added for extra security. A stock 330 hp will prob run for 30 mins with low water, let it cool and go. Add a blower and that same engine would have trouble running for seconds hot under boost. However, this is also true on most boosted engines, things happen fast with a blower. Forged components however can handle a longer duration of knock and ping. They also can be overheated somewhat without coming apart.

IMO go for it, you have the cheapest long block BBC you can buy, remans are out there for $2k! Destroy a 500 hp with a blower and you may be out $6-8k!

I would also do a 250 style blower, the 174/177 makes a lot of heat. Do the 250 with the single carb plate, you can always add twin carbs later when you build big power.

I agree on every account and have done it. Just keep the rpm down.

I have been running a Procharger with 5lbs for 5 seasons on a stock 1995 engine with no issues yet. Don't let people scare you. Kee the rpm's within the stock limit and make sure your fuel system is more than you will ever need and boost referenced and you will be fine. Any questions let me know.

did a 330 hp running a 177 @ 5lbs 3 years ago and its still running on the lake and only done oil changes . go for it you'll be fine

I still have the setup i ran on 330 twins successfully for a year, then put it back to stock and sold it! What a hoot, picked up 12MPH with prop change. The blowers were 250s! Never did bend the sticks over and forget them tho.

Put 60 hours on a stock 454 running 6-71 @ 6.5 lbs boost. Boat still runs like a top. PM me if you want details, be glad to help you out.

if you want to run them on your new motors, get blowers worthy of the new motors and turn down the boost for the 330's. otherwise, once you have upgraded motors you have blowers smaller than you want.

The 177 works, but IMO I think it is the worst boat blower out there. For a car prob great, but for a boat running a load all day that blower turns into a heat pump.

Get a chiller if you can, if not get a 250 and lower your intake charge temps! Lower temps mean more consistant power, and less chance of det if your engine does get a little warm.

Sounds like it will last longer than you think.

We put a 468 cheepy together years ago cast crank, cast trw pistons, hyd flat tappet cam.
Balanced the mess up and ran it nat for 4 years in a tunnel jet ........beat the snot out of it, then we put a rec port intake on the ovel port heads and a street 671 with a pair of 650 cfm hollys on top locked the timing at 30* with 8lbs boost beat the snot out of it another 3 years then sold the boat everything still running like a top ......the boat ran 82 nat and 98 mph blown.
