Props in Vs out and shifter ????
 

So I understand some boats will run a little faster with them spinning in (more lift) vx out. But out works better around the docs.

and i know how a drive works and does not care which way you spin them. and was told you just change the shifter once you swap sides with props.

BUT how? I have never seen the underside of my shifter? what does it look like? how does that work? someone care to try and explain/picture?

and any more information you smart people about why do one vs the other would be great.

If you pull the controls out you will see it is very simple to switch the cable from one side to the other. It's a very simple device.

Also, I assume you have Bravo's but just to be sure someone else doesn't get confused, you CAN NOT run any drive with a transmission (TRS / SSM / etc.) in reverse under a heavy load i.e. switching props from side to side. You must switch the drives.

I'm sure if you pull your controls you will figure out the switch pretty easily :drink:

Have you tried just switching props to see how you boat behaves and putting the stick in reverse to try it out before you switch the cables?

I dont own the twin engine boat yet. But I plan on playing with it. and my buddy with twins is also wanting to try it out. I knew you swaped the cable. but to me what I am pictureing in my head. does not work haha.

if you push the stick forward, itspushing the cable backwards..... or vice versa. so there must be something more than what I am picturingin my head.

And yes i would swap the props at eh beach and then drive it around some to see what i thoguht, but just wondered how the other part works.

Basically there are two "levers" on the bottom of the stick. You just move it from one to the other. I'll see if I can find a picture...

See the sticks in the diagram? By switching from one leg to the other the in/out movement is reversed.
EDIT: These are actually the digital shift controls but you should get the idea...

YES makes total since now! i was picturing the lever going strait through and the cabels coming from behind. the cabel coming up, and and the Y set up works.... if attached at the front it will push the cabin in forward, if on the back it pulls it.. work for me.

if you really want to see if it make a differance switch the props and put it in reverse and go try it.. but just for test perposes only and if you with a friend not a bunch of people..this is only if you have seperate throttle and shifteralso.. ryou may not like the way th boat handles with the props spinning in,this way you dont have to go through the trouble of switching everything twice..

p.s. bravo and volvo single props only..ssm and trs you need to switch the drives.

Yes I understand its a bravo/volvo thing. and I would just swap props for testing. but just wanted to know how the shifters worked.

only thing i have heard was bow lift with them in, but sucks aroudn the docs.

After you make the switch at the shifter is there any cable adjustment needed? I'm thinking of switching to a LH prop this yr. BTW, Bravo XR w/ITS if that matters.

That is great! I bought my boat a couple years ago and thought "well, the PO must have been dislexic" since pushing the shifter forward, the boat went into reverse and vice versa. Before I realized that by simply switching props, the shifter would have to be backwards. My Advantage performs better with the props spinning out, but the shifter is backwards. I just got used to it, now I know I can switch the cables on the shifter to make it "right". THANKS!!!
