Default 280 k plans instalation advice

Just picked up a set on used tabs lookin for advice on location on transom
I have heard everything from flush with runing surface of the hull up to an 1 1/2 " up
I'm running a older 24super boat with a509
Any advice would be helpful

I had my Bennetts replaced with 280S K-Planes a few years ago. Huge difference in rough water performance. Just measured and they are mounted exactly 5/8" up from the running surface. This works really well for my 292. When in the up position they make no contact with the water and running neutral position in rough water they really keep the boat settled down.
