Your about 200 cu.in. small for that much carburation !!!! Being an x drag racer I have to ask why gas ? Alcohol is so much cheaper and much more tuneable . just saying

finfrock29 04-12-2012 10:39 PM

Im stubborn and have everythin to run on gas 118 fuel is 8 bucks a gallon so cost not much diff how bout using center carb for just air? the way i looked at it if i had two 1050s on a 14 71 that be better?

Griff 04-12-2012 11:23 PM

I have never seen any boat engine run 3 carbs and that includes 600ci + stuff. Like was said, you have way too much carb, especially for a 427.

mike tkach 04-13-2012 01:07 AM

you need to go to 2 carbs, and bump the timing up to 34 deg.with the right tune up,you can make good power with race gas.

Just takin fuel away from one out of question? Spent alot of time making that stupid adapter hate to see it scraped just askin tho dunno if adapter can be bought for large openin and really dont have the time to make another

I saw a boat in Key West in 1995 with 3 dominators with huge Wipples, 46' Skater with Arnesons, prolly had some huge cubic inch motors, so it has been done. 427 cubic inches you might try triple 600 cfm carbs.

finfrock29 04-13-2012 02:47 AM

Thanks for reply i was just thinkin an injector hat has more cfm than im using and in theory it would work fine gotta get it figured out sooner or later

Jeff P31 04-13-2012 12:25 PM

Take 1 carb of and cover the hole with a plate . As for injector hat's they come in all different sizes as well . How much boost are you running with the 14-71 ? Just seem's way over kill for a 427 cu. in. Good luck

finfrock29 04-13-2012 05:57 PM

15lbs at 6800 rpm max

No O2 sensor in the collector?

finfrock29 04-14-2012 09:56 PM

no just egt probes

blue thunder 04-15-2012 10:01 AM

An o2 sensor would be nice. Most boat guys don't run egt probess except on the dyno due to water jacketed exhaust. But if you are blowing flames out the exhaust something else is wrong. Is the blower swap the only thing you did from running good to flames out the exhaust?

finfrock29 04-15-2012 01:26 PM

the exhaust is 24 inch long individual pipe zoomies i switched from 6-71 with 2 750 holley to 14-71 with 3- 750 thinking the 14 would need more cfm do u think i should add o2 to end of one pipe? thx for help

blue thunder 04-15-2012 03:54 PM

It would sure help. I don't understand if you are blowing flames out the pipes why the egts aren't off the charts high.

finfrock29 04-15-2012 08:46 PM

thats what has me confused it idlea good and sounds good just acts like it never cleans out down track looking at o2 sensors now

blue thunder 04-15-2012 09:12 PM

I'd say you have something else going on like weak/broken valve springs. I use the Innovate LM2 af meter which per my research is the most accurate.

Jeff P31 04-15-2012 09:14 PM

The flames in the pipes is raw fuel burning . I'll bet if you check the oil it will be loaded with gas. It's acting like it won't clean out because it won't . You are putting way to much fuel in it and it's just blowing the fuel out the exhaust .
