Default Stelling extension box question

I was under the impression with the Stelling box that there were three placement settings against the transom up1", neutral. or down 1". I placed the box against my transom just to be sure with the gimbal bolted on and was surprised to see that in the middle hole my gimbal bearing would be too high, but if I used the highest hole config. on the box my gimbal lined up. I'm not using the Stelling driveline too much pain in the ass to install using Imco driveshafts so alignment has to be on

On mine the top set of holes are nuetral, middle hole is -1" and using the bottom holes gave me -2".

Merc boxes are set up the same. Top holes give you stock drive height.
