I use a mirachem washer and mirachem cleaner. Non-hazardous and lasts for several years between changing the fluid. Use it fairly often for vintage car stuff, sand cars, motorcycles, engine parts and everything else. If you are not a commercial operation, it is perfect for a home shop.
Wipe down with some alcohol and ready to paint any part.

Used it for several hours today cleaning up thousands of bolts I acquired with the new shop. Got a little light headed after 3 hours lol. It's a very open air environment but I may have to limit my time around it with a project this big.

go hit up some local transmission shops as they change there parts washer fluids out about every month yea its a little dirty but it works fine.. Thats what i used to do when i worked at one we we changed it id drain it in to a big plastic container usually have enough for 2-3 fill up in my standard washer as theres where alot bigger they would just mix it in the waste oil once you wash your parts air nozzle it off itll be just as clean as anything else will make it.
what ever you do dont waste your money on anything that you mix with water i tried some from harbor freight and it didnt work worth a dam and made your hands sticky. mineral spirits all the way

I put kerosene in mine, like diesel but cleaner. Seems to work just fine, just stinks. Its a old parts washer, that i mainly use for scrubbing grimey parts. Recently the filter had clogged, and in a pinch i used a inline fuel filter as a filter for it since I couldnt get a new safety clean filter in a pinch.

I've used CRC parts cleaner and Mineral Spirits. The CRC has lanolin in it which is better on the skin if you get any on your hands but I like mineral spirits better because once you hit it with the blow gun it's dry and no residue.
