big block chevy heads compare
 

have a set of 14097088 rec port big block chevy heads 2.19 1.88 open 118. was wondering what the specs are on a ls6 big block head. i have a set of these also
because if they were i could use them for my future twin engine build. thanks

They made 2 dfferent LS6 heads. 1970 was a closed chamber rec port with 109cc chamber and 1971 was a open chamber rec port with 118cc chamber. Keep in mind the LS6 heads were on MK IV's and the 088's are Gen V up so you need the correct head gasket depending on the blocks you will be using.

you can tell an open from a closed chamber at a glance. closed looks like a bathtub with 2 flat quench areas either side of the tub. open is rounded essentially a semi-hemi shape.
