I think its already been said but the 502 is an outstanding engine and is built with forged internal parts--no way thats a throwaway motor!! Its a perfect candidate for supercharging.
The 496 is a great motor but is more of a throwaway due to the fact that its built with cast internals and isnt really a good candidate for supercharging.

My 502's have 670 hours on them and they are runnig strong. Regular maint

I had a 502 magnum efi. Fantastic.

The 454/502 Magnum should be inducted into the Marine Engine Hall of Fame

it IS in the hall of fame. what percentage of performance boats (and gas sportfish) DON'T have big block Chebbys in them? besides poor folks like me who have small blocks. my 67 34 Hatt had MoPeds orig. has 454's now.
