Just caught wind from a guy saying 502 mpi/efi are blow up specials, what gives?

I think its already been said but the 502 is an outstanding engine and is built with forged internal parts--no way thats a throwaway motor!! Its a perfect candidate for supercharging.
The 496 is a great motor but is more of a throwaway due to the fact that its built with cast internals and isnt really a good candidate for supercharging.

Nothing wrong with the Merc or others 496 8.1L engine. Just about 40,000-50,000 of them out there runnin great many with over 1000HRS! Absolutely nothing wrong with the 502MPI/efi either quite a few thousand out there doing the same!

it IS in the hall of fame. what percentage of performance boats (and gas sportfish) DON'T have big block Chebbys in them? besides poor folks like me who have small blocks. my 67 34 Hatt had MoPeds orig. has 454's now.
