Default What To Expect?

I just purchased a 1987 Formula SR-1 F-311 with twin 420hp 454s and TRS drives..the boat cosmetically is in need of TLC..the engines sound great and only have 370 hours on them..Im aware it depends on engine wear and how it was maintained but can anyone tell me what kind of speed to expect once I get her out on the water

I would think more than 67 mph. My 292 with 330's gets a solid 62 mph. Most 311's with 454 mags hit 67 Mph completely stock with mirage props. I know that Formula Outlaw gets 71 with his 311 with 454 Mags but he removed his swim platform and like me, is using Hydromotive props. A typical 311 with 502's/bravo drives which have the same power as your 420's typically get 71 mph or so with Mirage props. If you have mirage props switch to Hydromotive QIV's, you will get better mid-range and better top end. I'm in the process of building a pair of 470 hp 454's and I'm hoping for mid 70's.

It's a TRS boat. I have an old school flat bottom 420 TRS boat and that was what I was comparing it to. Mine would run 72 with the stars aligned, a little head work and labbed 3 blades. My TRS boat hates Hydromotives, or at least I do when I put them on. Try as many different props that you can get your hands on. They all have different pros and cons.

DYVMASTER....The 2 best upgrades I did to my old boat was
1. Hydraulic steering
2. Aqua shield Full cover http://boatcovers.iboats.com/Formula...icDescriptions

3. Was the 170HP/engine upgrade.

Mag boats are Bravo, not TRS...

a 420 TRS will run 65-67 at best in a 311....
