I would find a Mercruiser Diagnostics reader and see if it's throwing a code. You just about have to have one with the newer rigs...otherwise you end up chasing parts and guessing.

Look very close to the sensor head, there is flakes of metal stuck to the face. The metal must have come from the area around the screws. This was after wiping it off, the face was covered.

I am willing to be this is the issue.

At some point a previous owner put these Cherry brand sensors in. Both distributers have them....
Not marine rated.
