i started with a 98 model 330 with l29 heads and added gil hp500 exhaust, edelbrock air gap dual plane intake, pro comp 750 mech secondaries carb, crane 731 cam, isky springs, 10 degree locks, used stock roller lifters, scorpion roller rockers, holley blue pump, upgraded -8 fuel lines, big water seperator, huge oil cooler, oil thermostat, k&n flame arestor, used the thunderbolt igntion flyweel belhousing and coupler that came with the pile of parts that came with my boat. i put that all together for 3500 bucks and that included buying the used short block, i am on season 3 with it. has great power but i cant get it over 5000rpm yet, far more power than stock and it sounds great. my plan has been build it more more power with all of the good parts so when it comes time to drop my stroker motor in everything is already set up for it.

So im guessing had you kept the same 21p 3 blade, you probably would have gained about 400-600RPM? Sounds like maybe 5-6mph gain?

Flat tops and a 119cc chamber, should be around 8.2-8.4 or so.

Pretty much, don’t have pre gps speeds to say exactly but that’s atleast a fair statement. Its been a great set up for nearly 300hrs but the need for speed has hit again. You could stroke the short block & reuse the top end so I don’t necessarily agree it’s a waste of money build off these 330 based motors. You gotta start somewhere.

Wink

I know you're attracted to that kit because its realitiivly inexpensive and it says MARINE. Truth is if you're gonna do the top end right, talk to Bob Madera @ Marine Kinetics here on OSO about his recommendations for heads, cam, etc.
If you're gonna spend $2600, spend a little more, do it right and get better results.

My opinion.

Best Regards,
Ray @ Raylar

the performer rpm cam isn't a marine grind. and the intake doesn't have the bronze insert for the water passage. only marine part is the carb, and that may just be a word typed after RPM...
