Problem found... Bravo Fever- when the water inlet in the from the drive through the transom assembly compresses due to salt build-up( parts on the way over). Also had a bit of water reversion due to bad seals at the riser/manifold connection. Going to get spacers to raise the riser as far as possible and reseal the joints.

What is a plastic hose retainer? Did you pull the water pickup off the transom to make sure its not clogged? Lift keep boats have a problem with that.
3 minutes too late, glad you found it. |
Austin, I talked with my technician today. He just finished servicing the water pumps on my 6.2 MPIs. They are the late style bronze pumps and he said there is an update kit for them as the impeller wears ridges in the bronze over time. The update kit included a ceramic surface for the impeller to run on. He claimed it gives a nice increase in idle PSI. When I pick up the boat I will post the part numbers. Sounds like you have everything under control now but I thought if you didn't have the update kit in your pumps it might be of interest.

Wes, Yes those are the pumps I have and they do have groves in the bronze. I would be interested in the kit. Although my idle pressure is low the biggest issue was definately the retriction at the transom plate... couldn't even get my pinky finger in the hose.

Austin, I will get the info to you sometime next week when I pick up my boat.

I would like to know about the update kit as well

I looked at both brass water pumps. There were grooves in both pumps. #47-862232A2 was the impeller kit number he installed. In Mike's notes he said, "Wear plates on W/p's are grooved too bad to reuse. New plate is plastic with stainless steel ware plate." The impeller kit was $34.17. A new impeller housing was #862776A01 - $99.98. The new seawater pump was #46-862914710 for $401.25. I know there are many opinions on impeller replacement but Mike said there would be no need to replace the impellers until they had 100 hours on them. As the Fountain has water pressure gauges I'll keep an eye on them and see how slowly or how quickly the pressure goes down as I put hours on the boat. Hopefully these part numbers will be of value to some of you. Again, my ride is a 29' Fever with 6.2MPIs.
