Default Marine electronics preservation tactics

This is for the guys with 10+ year old boats in salt water areas I want to see what you guys have tried and had good results with. What do you use for your engine wiring harness connections, dash gauge wiring and fuse box wiring? I currently remove each connector on the motor and hit them with WD-40 once a month, the dash gauges I was thinking of using Kon-form to coat the connections. I was told by the dealer when I had to have a radio replaced 3 times under warranty that it's a good practice to pack all the wire connectors with vaseline to keep water out. I always coat my motor with anti corrosive but my most recent problem was a faulty ground so my wiring needs more attention apparently.
