Default main breaker popping

Last weekend the main breaker popped on the port motor twice. It only does it when in some waves, It's fine when idling. Was looking it over last night and noticed something. On my blue mercathode box I have two grounds hooked up. One slipped up and looks like it could be touching the positive post next to it. Would this cause the main breaker to trip? I touched it with the key on and nothing happened but didn't try it while the motor was running. Thanks for any help. Jason

you need 50 amps to pop that breaker. The mercathode should have it's own fuse inline, so I doubt that is your issue. You might have a short somewhere between the fuse and the panel up front or your breaker is going bad.
