Exclamation Need Help: Alternator seized and leaving tomorrow (496)

I have 2 496's and my alternator on the port side has seized an hour ago (again) and I am supposed to head down to the Keys in the morning (timing on this one sucks). Does anyone know what I could pick up to use in its place (i.e. would an alternator for a Surburban or Silverado with the 496 work)? In a pinch and any advice would be more than appreciated!

I would... but of course I had intended to go by boat (straight shot from Naples to Marathon). We don't have a trailer and keep it on a lift here. Will try a few marine shops in the morning to see if they are open and have one. Thanks.

Don't use a truck one. The marine ones are explosion proof.

Realistically it would work, but I know my luck.

You might see if you can find an electrical motor/alternator repair shop and see if they will rebuild it for you.

Got a buddy with a 496? Ask him for a loan.

Only difference I ever found between the auto and marine alts is that the rear casing has some spark guard screens installed which can easily be retrod into the auto alt. Clocking might be different but not an issue if you don't mind splitting the alt and changing it.

Thanks for the tips.

FYI: I took a pipe wrench and a hammer and got it spinning again after a few tries. Ran it to Marathon with no problems. Of course, not the recommended procedure since it wasn't putting out voltage but I was in a pinch. Got a spare there.
