Who to buy a drive from?
 

Narrowed down to 2 choices. Both OSO members. ;)

BAM for the 2002 B1 w/ upgrades @ $3800

Dollar Offshore @ $3300. Don't have any info on their drives other than advertised as new.

Both advertised as with 1 yr warranty. I have bought small stuff from BAM before, but not from Dollar Offshore.
Placing order Mon.

$500 can buy me a prop. :D

Their both good, but there are 3 drives available: std., HP., and X.
Each has a different base price. Mike at Dollar or Marc at Bam can advise you.

Hey john there is an "HP" drive also? I guess i have been wrong for a while. I thought there was the standard, XZ and XR.

They sure do make a Bravo HP drive..I got one. Other then the low water pickup I'm not sure what the differences are. I also have the HP gimble and bellhousing.

Yes, I am aware of the Standard, HP Bravo, X Bravo, XR Bravo, and XZ Bravo, with the X, XR, and XZ being a total different animal. BUT, I did not know there was an *HP* Bravo drive.

I thought the *HP* designation was only in reference to the Gimble, not the outdrive. I have always been under the impression that if you did not have the electric trim senders at the pivots and had to have mechanical trim gauges, it was said to be an HP Bravo.

I am just ordereing the outdrive itself, not the bell housing or gimble unit. Talk to me Goose!!

Previous to the new 0M drives there was an HP Bravo. It had a low water pickup and had the "diesel" gear set in it (shot peened pinion gear). Now the diesels all use the X drives, and the regular drives all have the dual water pickup, new style gear set and bigger vertical shaft in the lower. There is still the HP gimbal, heavier gimbal ring and no trim senders. Sooooooo - Current model line up does not have a drive with the HP designation.

Sooooooo, I just need a Bravo outdrive. Period. BTW, I called again today, but no answer. Assumed closed for holiday.

Mine is currently the side water pickup. Is this still an option or are all your drives that you have advertised the low water p/u? I'm interested in your ad, but also am considering the $500 difference. (Gotta support my lifestyle too :D )

Yes Jerry, closed today. Home watching the rain. Worst lightning I ever saw, took out my Linksys router and 3 network cards!

The drives we have are the newest dual water pickup style, they are compatable. Of course I would prefer that you buy your drive from us, but aside from that given the amount of problems with the Bravo upper unit & gears, I think that the newer style is worth the extra $$ no matter where you purchase it.

if you are puting out any horse power over 425 i would get the upgraded drive from Marc, money well spent in my book

The point is; all "new" Bravo drives for sale were not made yesterday. Some are last years or older models, many however, have one year warrantees. Check the serial numbers. The older units will cost less but if that's all you need...... X's are the latest and best, and cost more.
