I know exactly the noise you're talking about. I was amazed how loud the sucking noise was with my hatch open! With two of those suckers (literally), it is almost annoying just at idle.

You may be missing a little filter that goes into the side of the throttle body, is about 1/2" x 3/4" on the port side under the flame arrestor. looks like a small sponge. when I had mine out it whistled loud

i actually checked that, its located about 11 o'clock looking at the throttle body, its there but looks like there could be a second one? only one there now

Maybe instead a straight hole put some sort of deflector that will allow air to pass but will make sound will bounce off of it. Sound travels in a straight line where air can go around things.
