If it is an A/S6 it should have a 4600# towing capacity.

FWIW it may have really been running that hot, though I agree electrical problems are more likely. Car/truck and bike motors frequently reach around 240 with no issues. It is hotter than the boat is intended to run, but not so hot as to cause immediate failure with a high degree of certanty imo. My stock 454 mag mpi, raw water cooled, runs ~135-155 on the gauge (running in ~70 deg water).
