Had my boat in shallow water twice today, (showing 5ft on the depth, actually about 3ft) docking where the prop was kicking up mud, trimmed up. Took off everything was fine. Docked at an island, same thing shallow water, took off and right when the boat started to get on plane the RPM's shot up, checked see if my prop was slipping, trimmed all the way down and it revved up again. Never heard anything that made a noise, just wouldn't move forward. The boat will move in forward and reverse at about 1K RPMs anything over the engine just revs. Used only 3 times this summer and was hoping to get full use this weekend, oh well. Should i have heard grinding or something metallic if the outdrive failed. I've caught props in the mud on plane over the years, scared the hell out of me but never damaged an outdrive. Thoughts? Full replacement or could my prop possibly be slipping, shaft damage?

Spun prop hub?

Is it a solid hub prop? If not you could have spun the hub. I've done that a couple times with the same result. Would idle forward and reverse but as soon as I would give throttle it would rev with no gain in speed. If it's the old rubber hub style I would invest in a different prop as mine didn't hold after getting redone. The tq flow plastic hub work well.

Sounds a lot less expensive. The blades on my prop were fine not bent at all. The boat took off normal and then felt it spun out. Makes sense everything else seems fine. I'm running a 25 pitch left handed Mirage. So the issue is probably in my prop? Being in shallow and catching the mud probably messed it up? Is this something I just take to a prop shop?

If you want to check it take it off and make a line with a black marker pen across the hub. Put it back on and run it then take it off and see if the line is still lined up or has shifted. Most prop shop can fix this. What kind of drive is it?

could be engine coupler to,,,,,your head behind the motor if you can and see if you can see the driveshaft turning with the engine running,,,,,,carefully !!!!!!!!!
