im trying to make them make good on this. if they dont then i will post the name, the bsfc is .780 yes we have issues. the thing that pisses me off is they act like oh well take it or leave it. i think if they had put a larger cam in there we would had got closer to 700hp but im not a builder im just the paying customer, thats not happy for three reasons, 1. it took from mar.to aug so my boating season was done, then i was told they should make 700hp well 620 isnt 700, then i was charged what seems to me to much!! thats why im asking these questions hell even if it made 675ish i would of been happy but what they showed me is not what i expected.

I agree. My buddys N/A solid roller 540 made 730HP with a 1050 Dominator.
Why dont we start with a couple things. Repost the cam card List the piston part # used What intake is on it? We know the BSFC numbers were off, what was the timing set at for the dyno pulls. I still think to get 700+HP out of a N/A 540, your gonna need to turn more than 5500RPM. And its gonna need a healthy cam, lots of lift, and some good compression. At 6000RPM or so, I think the dominator carb will be at home on a 540. CFM will tell the story of the air pump & parts :wuerg019: I hope it works out Jim |

i usually dont complain but ive been screwed so many times in the last two years that im at the boiling point and its not just the builder its just they acted like oh well, its starting to get to me im no engine guy but ive call some on here and trust me i live and learn and they sAy these should had made more. even some 509 ci engine are making more than this.

Any clue what the heads flow at .650 lift ?
|
what brodix head you using? if ovals then you need another set of heads..minimum of 360 cfm in the intake side..hate to say it but my old 496's with ported iron heas ans solid rollers made 620 hp and 637 ftlbs

Reason I asked for a piston part #, and headgasket part #, was to try and determine your compression ratio. Ive seen guys use a piston, where the catalog says ''10:1'' with 119cc chamber, but sometimes it works out different, based on deck height, head gasket thickness, chamber size. Without actually cc'ing a chamber, knowing how far the piston is in the hole, its just guessing.
Was this engine dynoed with headers or manifolds? Imo, thats really not the cam for a fire breathing N/A 540. Maybe if it had a blower on it, but the 114LSA probably isnt helping the top end power. AFR looks within spec. Honestly, I think for what you have there, the results are not out of spec. The HP peaked at 5500-5600, and started to fall. You'll need a cam change to get bigger numbers, and peak around 6000. |
CC is the only way I just took a "11:1" SBC apart and low and behold after calculating and cc all the inputs its 9.8:1
But the box said :cartman: |
i had an engine built 540 big m block calies bal edlbrock alum heads ported to 119 edlebrock port matched air gap manifold 1050 card redone by AED 4.5 bore 563 c.i. commotion cam mid 6 lift dyno 620 hp 640 tork about the same as yours .if you check out correti engines in classified the 540 engines are about the same hp
