Hi Larby

I went with the Holley HP EFi on my 454 and would thoroughly reccomend it. Normally aspirated with the 5BBL TBI on a Victor Jr inlet, I am not fully dialled in yet but it is looking good, can come as a complete plug and play kit with all the sensors you need and an O2 sensor for the exhaust. The base configuration is simple enough and the software seems comprehensive.

I bought mine as a kit [together with plenty of advice] from Alex Haxby, he was happy to ship to the UK. Check out the Holley website, its pretty useful and I am impressed with both the detailed instructions and standard of loom construction, labelling etc.

It now looks a bit like this [still need to tidy the rigging properly]

Feel free to call me if you want any further info.

Paul

Wow, I should've kept a closer eye on this thread!!

So, from the beginning...

TooTall - Initial cost higher than expected, more involved than I thought and concerns of upsetting the balance of the boat.

Professor_Speed - That's the blower I've already got! Seeing as I can make myself the plenum it'd save me having to buy anything at all!

Young Performance - Thanks for the input there! This is exactly the sort of oversight i was talking about! I am slightly confused now though given the above link from Professor Speed to my exact blower with just a plenum on top, no fuel running through, and designed to be that way?
How do all the other vehicles and boats using this type of blower and direct injection get around it? None of those have fuel running through the blower, do they use a different rotor or something?

Haxby - Thanks for chipping in, if I can't go with the direct injection then that'd be the route I take, I'll be in touch!

Scarron - Are you Paul with the Pantera? If so, hi! Good to see someone in the UK has been there and done that! I'll be in touch!

So in conclusion then, is there no way for me to utilise the direct injection bungs already in my intake manifold, will I have to inject above the blower? How do other injection supercharged applications with roots blowers do it?

I'm going to download the Holley software and look into the meth injection too in the meanwhile.

Cheers, James

my point with the ebay link way that it has programmed efi already you could buy it sell your carb set up and be out what $500 bucks maybe? that would be the cheapest option. I'm sure you could make your blower work etc but at that price why bother? holley efi the best route just not the cheapest.

I definately want to go with the Holley Efi, if I came across any tuning issues in the future I'll be having to sort it myself so the more self-tuning it is the better.

I'm not too fussed on price so long as I'm happy with what I end up with. Once I've factored in shipping both ways on a large part and trying to sell my carb setup back to the states (as no one over here would use it) it's not such an economical option, hence my plan to work with what I've got and buy the Holley efi unit.

Cheers, James

Hey Paul, that looks great! Let me know if you need help with any final tweaks like in and out of gear, etc. I'd be happy to log on to your computer and tune it for you, or you can email me a datalog and I can check out the tune. Cheers!

Hi James

No I am Paul with the old Triana 25 over in Southampton, we spoke before when I was trying to decide what x dimension to go with on the Volvo DPD duoprop drive. (Do you still have the DPX for sale?)

Paul.

Hi Alex

Afraid the engine is out of the boat again being stripped - its making a nasty knocking noise, current guess is that a lifter has collapsed? but we'll soon see.

Yes please I would like to send over my maps and data logs as I don't think we are quite there yet with the tune. ( that's the great thing about the Holley) I am in the UK and Alex in Vancouver but with the data logging he will pretty much see what I can!

Paul.

No problem, send over what you've got now and when you get it back together I can help with the final tune from here and you can watch what's happening on your laptop. Hopefully it's something simple on the mechanical end.

I'm liking the sound of being able to communicate with the tuner so easily, this is sounding like a better idea by the second!

Paul Buckner - Hello mate! Haven't forgotten about your throttle, hoping to have time to sort it by the end of the week and will be in touch!

Paul (Scarron) - It all makes sense now! I'm hoping not to sell the DPX, it was just an opition for a moment (long story!)
Shame to hear yours is in bits, I'm hoping mine will live well, it's all virtually new and has just been rebuilt!

Haxby - I'm definately going to be in touch about my requirements, I've been really impressed with what I've seen on here, it's rare to find someone so comfortable with dealing with UK customers. Do you have an email I can contact you on to discuss?

Thanks, James
