winter storage fuel question?
 

i am useing fuel stabilizer but is there anything else i should should be adding because of the ethanol in the gas ?

since all this ethanol crap fuel came around i now completely empty my tank before storage, i have no need for 100 gallons of 6+ month old ethanol fuel! if you plan on leaving gas in it make sure your using a stabilizer thats made for ethanol fuels.

i bought a small electric fuel pump and hook that to my line that goes to the fuel separator and just let the pump pump it all out into on of my cars or fuel cans.

Not much else you can do besides use the Stabil that is designed for ethanol fuel.
Like was said, I would get as much of the E10 fuel out of the tank as you can.

I just bought an echo trimmer &in the manual it states not too use 87 octane fuel due to the ethanol in it will swell the carb seals & void the warranty. It states to use 89 octane or higher to prevent.

Since I am a believer in keeping the tank fuel over the winter with stabil in it. Can anyone confirm that 89 octane or up doeesn't have much or no ethanol in it?

The octane has nothing to do with ethanol content. Here in NE, 87 octane has no ethanol and 89 octane is E10. Depending on the station, 91 octane might or might not be E10. Fortuantely, the ethanol content is always posted on the pumps in NE.

This was emailed to me today. I found it pretty interesting. I personally have been splitting the difference since ethanol has been used by stabilizing and storing with 1/4 to 1/2 a tank.

I used to winter with full 320 gals in the Fountain since new using Sta Bil in 93 octane E10 and never had a problem in spring. But last year this worked great after I heard more ethanol horror stories.

That's one thing I found interesting about the article I posted. The last paragraph talked about how it was considered dangerous to leave a tank empty because of the fumes.
