Assembly lube needed for new dist. gear?

Assembly lube needed for new dist. gear?
I installed a melonized distributor gear on my distributor for my 454 crate motor I purchased. The motor had 8 hrs on it when I purchased it. Do I need to put any assembly lube on the gear or can I just coat it with oil?
