Anyone Tried Extractors?
I have a set of Lightning headers and I'm thinking of adding O2 bungs and while I have them off, adding extractors. I know they don't add a lot of horsepower, but they help the rings seal better and last longer. Has anyone tried this and with what level of success?

Are you talking about ''Burn Downs"?? Where the exhaust pulls a vacuum on the crankcase?
|
Why haven't the vacuum pumps been used either. I think NASCAR even uses them.

I have looked at Vacuum pumps, but they need to be rebuilt after every season.

It worked real good with dry Headers |
Used them for years on drag engines , now they all use pumps .

they work fine on drag engines that only see a few seconds of WOT but when run for extended periods they can pull oil from the wrist pins and cylinder walls. NASCAR engines run pin oil drilled rods and oil squirter for the bottom of the pistons, etc, etc, so they can use them without issue. if the engine is not set up for all the additional oiling then the evacuation can cause more harm than the few HP you would gain. just my .02 cents though.
