Blow thru carb....chill at idle or no??
Having a debate with a friend, most of you are probably starting to know this friend well, and how many debates we have...lol
Anyhow. His blow thru procharged engines didn't idle worth $hit. Docking was a problem. He is feeding water thru his intercoolers at idle, well all the time actually. At anytime, you can put your hand on the inlet tubes, and its ice cold.
I suggested not putting water thru the chiller at idle, in order to let a little heat build up in the intake manifold, so the fuel wont puddle, in a effort to help idling around the docks. His source tells him that's a waste of time, and in no way will the cold air at idle, have any effect on the engine stalling or idling well.
Not sure I can agree with that, maybe if it was a port injected efi setup, but I have never had any carb'd setup that idled better cold them warmed up. Ever.
Anybody else have any input on this?

well he would not listen to me,,now he wont listen to you and he wont listen to mike t..eddie young does not run water through the inner coolers at idle so he most likely wont listen to him either..
Is this the same guy that told him a 112* lsa cam will give him more bottom end over a 115*? or was it icl lsa or icl hmmmmm...

I was running a prosystems blow thru carb built for my 509, did not idle bad at all most of the time....every now and then acted up...not sure what to blame that on...now I do run timing locked @ 28 and a digital 7 MSD ignition with start retard. I do run water thru mine all the time..but at idle flow is not much...am currently working on my own port EFI so let you know in the spring how that works out....
