Imco BBC Engine mounts or full offshore mount
Does anyone have any insite about using IMCO's engine mounts for a BBC vs a full offshore mount setup for a 620HP engine. CP performance says the imco's are fine for 620hp and others say anything 500HP or higher should be a offshore mount setup.
I would really appreciate any real world feed back on this. http://www.cpperformance.com/p-13831...kit-black.aspx |
I used the offshore mounts on mine just for the simple fact that this system ties both stringers together . This eliminates any flexing of the stringers or movement of the engine . Once you align your engine , drill your holes and bolt it down , it can't move . Easy and very strong . I have a set of the other mounts laying in the garage that i may put in the swap section . When given a choice between strong and stronger , i'll go for stronger every time .

sam,i totally agree, espically if you will see rough water on a regular basis.my single engine cat had an offshore mount and i could have the engine out in about 90 minutes.

Better to be safe with the offshore mount then
Thanks for the input guys. I was leaning towards the offshore mount anyway.

I'm with the offshore mount idea, I'm doing it to mine as we speak, I was going to put my 548 DART motor in the boat which makes alot of torque, so I thought I would break the pad type motor mounts. At the tail end of one of my forums I show pics of what I was doing.
