555 CU IN Blower

I have a friend rebuilding a 555 BBC. He wants to bolt on a B&M 174 blower to it. I think its way to small a blower..What do you guys think?

555 Cu In
Oliver rods
World product heads
Lunate crank
forged flat tops
174 B&M blower and no cooler
1050 Nickerson Carbs
Eddie marine manifold exhaust with stainless elbows dry to 4" of tips

Any idea on HP with and without blower?

Thanks Anthony

Bigger would be better in this case. Might want to check the compression numbers , a flat top is still going to give you 10.2 to 9.3 depending on the heads you are running. Just saying

I am in the process of rebuilding my 540's with 250's and Nickerson 1050's. The 250's are right on the line of being too small for this set up but after talking with Bob Madera we have decided on a cam combo that will maximize the 250's ability. 8-71's or 420's would be a better choice.

I was wondering on my 565 what I could run. After talking to the blower shop and a few others. General consciences were 871 on the small up to 1471. Most felt a 1071 was right size. I wasn't wanting to go that big but that is what they said to run if I want to.
Just letting you know what I was told.

3cc Flat Tops will yield 9.5:1 CR on a 4.500 bore x 4.375 stroke 555 (556.5ci) using the 119cc World Products Heads. Too much.

12cc dish will give you 9.0:1 on above config.
23cc dish will give you 8.4:1 on above config.

The 174 Blower is NOT enough for more than 3psi of boost on that motor. A waste of time.
Needs a much hairier chested blower.

871 +1

With flat tops with that bore/stroke, and a 118-119cc chamber, with a 174 blower, he'll melt the pistons and or valves.

The 174 blower belongs on a 454 TBI tow truck engine. Leave it N/A.

you can do it with good fuel not pump gas

Yep you could but it would be cheaper to buy the right blower than it would be to buy a few tank's of C16
