1981 chris craft scorpion 260 as a raceboat?
Im looking into getting more serious into offshore racing. so far im looking to go with a 24-26ft hull, single power. My current choice is a 24 Pantera as its a proven race hull design.
I have the chance to get a 260 Scorpion hull for a good price, currently its set up for twin alphas, but i would re-do the transom for a single Bravo or ssm#3. Any thoughts on this hull? any experience with it?
Am I onto something here or am I dreaming?
Any feedback would be great.

I had a Stinger 260. Same hull, I believe. It road well for its size but was not nearly as fast as the newer notched and stepped hulls. My Fountain 29' is a good 8-9 m.p.h. faster with the same power.

With a 525EFI and a ssm#3 what would i excepct with this boat, I plan on raising the X on it about 1.5 inches and possibly the uses of a junction box too so I can get it out of the water

you will find that a custom made 24ft like pantera,Carrera,Excalibur with same power will go faster and ride better than a mass produced hull like the Scorpion.
I had a Chaparral 215xlc ,, rode great I thought and with a 502 ran low 60s..
Put that same drivetrain into my current 27 Carrera which is 5.5 ft longer and 2000lbs heavier and ran 8mph faster without changing a thing..
Not worth the little savings you might get from using a cheaper hull..
