transom / exhaust rubber seals?
I had to get oversized custom trim rings made.
My question lies here:
Is there rubber available in sheets to cut size specific for different applications for marine use? Or can I use a piece of thin conveyor belt rubber or the like?
These rubbers I'm referring to go between the beauty ring and the transom to prevent water intrusion into the boat by tightly sealing around the pipes if I was unclear.
Thanks! Mike

That's my thoughts as well, but I didn't know if there's different types that have better heat resistance / salt resistant properties, or different stretch characteristics.
To me rubber is rubber, but I doubt that's the case....who knows.

yeah I am sure somebody will come along. But I would think you might want to be aware of the heat so it doesnt melt and ensure thats ok. Maybe just look for a gasket rubber that handles heat and Im am sure you would be fine. Might have to look at using a clear sealent when you use it.

We may not be on the same page s4402.
The rubber I'm talkin about goes around dry pipes where they pass thru the transom to keep water out of the bilge. Not sure I follow u on the clear silicon?
Thanks though.

Are you asking about something like these,
http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...ust-rings.html
Or more like item numbers 10 & 12?
http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show_...lpipe+Assembly
What engine package are you working on?
